AKB48 in Singapore

Just got back from the AKB48 concert at Suntec! It was fun! great audience, most of us in the front were shouting the chants and member names. The girls look much better live. the whole time i was staring at haachan, switching to mayuyu/komorin/nacchi/amina when haachan went to the far side. luckily haachan spent most of the time in the middle, towards my side :D

The setlist was:

Overture

RIVER
Oogoe Diamond
Aitakatta

Members' self-introductions

Pajama Drive (Mayuyu, Haachan, Harugon)
Candy (Chiyuu, Amina, Komorin)
Kimi wa Pegasus (Sayaka, Genking, Nacchi, Wasamin)

MC

10nen Zakura
Iiwake Maybe
Hikoukigumo
Heavy Rotation

Encore

Beginner
Ponytail to Shushu

Except for Candy, i like all the songs in the setlist. i actually predicted most of them already, so it wasnt really a surprise. only complaint is that its really short. they started late, about 7.10pm, and performed only 12 songs when usually concerts have about 25 >.<

The stage was not very dark so i could actually see them walk onto the stage during the overture -.- another bad thing is that the lightsticks couldnt shine as bright since the stage wasnt very dark.

They tried to speak in english as much as possible, which is commendable. haachan's catchphrase was a mix: tsuyaonna to kaite adeejo, adeejo to yobu no wa, you, you, you. very fun MC and they used simple words such that even i could understand like 90% of what they said! nacchi actually spoke a sentence of decent length without making any mistakes! im starting to like nacchi recently, lol.

Wotagei is fun, but the encore chant was just fail lol. many ppl were calling encore on and off though luckily the chant never died out. aki-p was in the audience lol, and it would have sucked if he thought singapore fans arent responsive enough.

AKB48 <333

Now to wait for the december meet the fans session! in the meantime i should get to writing a fan letter... hope both haachan and yukirin will come!

And i think i might have skipped my NAPFA test for this concert, but fuck that shit, wotagei is much better exercise.

AFA for the next 2 days! woot!

Updating this dead blog with details of my Tokyo trip (100925 - 101001).

Day 1:
Arrived at Tokyo Narita Airport. The people there can speak decent English contrary to popular belief. Booked a limousine bus into town.

Walked around Shinjuku in the evening. Nothing of particular interest. A lot of the major shopping centres close by 9pm. We got 'tricked' into eating a Korean BBQ dinner by a touter because he could speak Chinese. AKB48 cup noodles were no longer on sale at 7-11.

Day 2:
Visited Shibuya in the morning. Took a picture of the Hachiko statue and then crossed the renowned scramble crossing to 109. There was a promotion for foreigners whereby we get free miniature 109 keychains just for writing our names and home country, which we did. A lot of cute girls and female fashionables here. Had a nice mini-steamboat lunch at an upstairs shop somewhere in Shibuya. Apparently restaurants in Tokyo don't accept tips.

Took the train down to Harajuku. There was a long queue for some cat cafe. Walked past the queue to Takeshita-dori. Lots of wild youth fashion and cosplay. We progressed slowly because the street was really crowded as it was a Sunday. We also had the 'fortune' to witness a fundoshi parade. Gave up on visiting Omotesando Hills due to walking the wrong way.

Went to Ikebukuro in the evening. Another fundoshi parade. Had a lot of difficulty in locating Animate, but succeeded after a while. It started to rain around this time. Animate sells some nice stuff, but at rather high prices. I ended up buying a Black*RockShooter notebook and a Dollars keychain.

As we were trying to find the station, I spotted a maid, so I went to see if there was a maid cafe nearby. It was MaiDreamin's Ikebukuro outlet - the one AKB48's Sashihara Rino frequents. I only realized it after the maid introduced herself as Oto. I asked if she knew Sasshi, and she replied that she did. Had a fun conversation involving AKB48 and Macross Frontier. Several of the other maids came by to chat but their English was not as good as Oto's. The cafe also played AKB48 music and some of the maids could dance to it. Overall, a rather expensive dinner ($100+) and the food kinda sucked, but it was a fun experience. At the end, I took a polaroid with Oto, which was ruined by my expression and finger pose.

Day 3:
Went to Akihabara in the morning. It was very far from Shinjuku, and we had to change subway lines to get there. Bad weather throughout the day. Walked along Chuo-dori and bought an Akiyama Mio figurine at Animate. I wanted to buy AKB48 goods from the stores along the way but none were selling posters of members I like.

Headed for the Don Quijote and saw a long queue of wotas in the downpour lining up for the Team K show scheduled for about 4 hours later. I later realized it was Erepyon's graduation performance, which explains the long queue. The 8th floor was off-limits, and the AKB48 official shop on the 5th floor seemed to be out of everything I wanted. I saw the @home cafe I had read about but did not go in because it looked lousy compared to MaiDreamin. Ate a lunch of pork cutlet at Akihabara UDX. The waitress was cute.

Took the train to Asakusa. Wandered around aimlessly while searching for Nakamise before finally deciding to ask a random old man - turns out he can speak English very fluently! Bought a Yukirin keychain. Wanted a Haruna phone strap as well but it was too girly and expensive for my exquisite taste.

Prayed at the Sensoji temple. Many people were taking photographs so everyone was darting around trying to avoid all the camera shots. When I was trying to test my fortune, I spent a lot of time shaking the can before a stick came out. I got Number 48! Small fortune, but who cares since its 48! Tied the paper to a tree before leaving. Washed my hands with some holy water on the way out.

Went to Ginza after that. The nightlife is nice. Though the crowd is mainly comprised of working adults, a lot of the younger women are pretty. Didn't see any worthy stuff for young men. Not even prostitutes and hostess clubs. Must be the wrong part of Ginza.

Headed back to Shinjuku. At this time the subway was congested. Two pretty girls were standing just beside me! One looked cute sleeping with her head resting against the wall. I didn't grope them though. Had dinner at the Yoshinoya near the hotel. At least it doesn't suck as much as in Singapore.

Day 4:
We bought Suicas because the Metro passes expired. Took the JR Line for the first time. The stations look very old compared to Metro stations. First stop of the day was Nakano.

There was torrential rain but Nakano Sun Mall was located just across the street. Took a while to walk to the end because the shops sell a wide assortment of things. At the end of the Sun Mall was Nakano Broadway. We shopped around and I bought an Azunyan figurine, a Black*RockShooter figurine, and an AKB48 Team Dragon poster. Damned old woman at one of the stores told me none of the stores around would sell posters as they are just for promotion. I almost gave up, but luckily I decided to enter Trio2 and saw some on sale. Saw many AKB B.L.Ts but didn't bother buying any.

Had pork cutlet for lunch at Nakano Sun Mall before heading back to Shinjuku. Wandered around aimlessly because there is nothing much to do in Shinjuku, then took a taxi back to the hotel. Took a nap till about 7pm before walking to another part of Shinjuku for dinner. Got scammed into eating Korean BBQ passed off as Japanese BBQ again.

Day 5:
Woke up early for the Mt. Fuji tour. The bus passed by many interesting places we did not get to visit e.g. Tokyo Tower, Roppongi Hills, Tokyo Big Sight. The bus took us to the 5th station, where all we could see was mist and tourist shops. There was a group of young schoolgirls who waved at us and even posed for a photograph. Posers.

Descended the mountain for lunch at a local hotel. Portions were ridiculously tiny, and the food sucked. All I could force myself to eat was the rice and the only other edible thing - a small piece of fried chicken.

Next stop was a cruise across Lake Ashi. Quite a scenic ride. The ferry brought us to the next stop: Komagatake Ropeway - a cable car. Only stupid thing is that they crammed about 100 people into 1 car. Very stuffy, not to mention we were unable to take photographs because everyone was packed like sardines in a can.

The last stop was Edowara Station, where we boarded the Shinkansen bound for Tokyo. It seemed really fast from the outside, but from the inside it felt like the same speed as the MRT, except with aeroplane-styled seating and toilets. Two good things about Japan's train stations is that they have nice toilets, and the people are actually civilised enough to queue before boarding. That was the end of the tour. My father complained that we paid about 1000 bucks combined just to see fog.

Switched to the JR Yamanote Line at Shinagawa and continued onward to Shibuya. Walked in the opposite direction of 109 in search of food and ended up at a sukiyaki restaurant. The waitress was cute. Free flow of everything for 90 minutes. Crossed the famous Shibuya scramble crossing one last time before taking the train back to Shinjuku. Stalked a pretty girl from the crossing all the way to the platform, but lost sight of her at the escalator. Saw a lot of pretty girls today - Shibuya really comes to life at night.

Day 6:
We decided not to go to Disneyland due to the bad weather. First stop of the day was therefore Tokyo Station's Character Street. Nothing of interest in the shops run by the TV stations. The station itself is large and confusing.

Headed to Ueno and bought Hard Rock Cafe shirts. Had some disgusting omelette rice for lunch before walking to Ameyoko. I expected it to be a good shopping area from what I had read but it was more of a local flea market than anything.

Since it was early, I decided to revisit Akihabara to see if I could get to the 8th floor of the Don Quijote. Again, the escalators were blocked for some reason. The fans queuing in the rain were considerably fewer in number as compared to the other day. Walked back to the station on the opposite side of Chuo Dori, but bought nothing.

Went to Roppongi Hills after that. It is a very nice and modern complex. We did not stay long as my mum had the bright idea of walking to the next station in the heavy rain, wasting about an hour. Ended up taking the Toei Oedo Line to Shinjuku Station and walking a very long way to the Marunouchi Line.

We went back to the hotel for a short rest, then headed out for dinner. Walked all the way to Shinjuku Station and had McDonald's because there was nothing good to eat on the way. McDonald's in Japan sucks, although there were many pretty girls there.

Headed back to the hotel after dinner. Stopped by UniQlo to stock up on sweats for my father's gifts. This marked the ending of the trip.

Day 7:
Went shopping at the nearby H&M one last time and ended up buying a lot of clothes. We then had lunch at a ramen place. About 17 bucks per bowl and we don't get to make requests like "no vegetables". It was more of bean sprouts than ramen, but the pork was nice.

Packed and took a taxi to Shinjuku station. The newbie driver didn't know where to drop us, but at least he got the general area correct. We had to drag our luggage a short distance to find the Airport Limousine Bus booth. Just in time to catch the 1430 bus.

The airport was quite boring. First stupid thing is the automated check-in kiosks. They may be an innovation of sorts, but are downright annoying to use. After wasting some time fiddling with it, it rejected my passport saying it has expired when it has slightly over 6 months left. Had to ask a staff member to do a manual check-in.

There weren't many shops in the airport. I wanted to buy an AKB48-cover magazine to get rid of my coins but couldn't find any without naked girls inside. My parents bought a shitload of foodstuff and paid in coins. Good thing, because the cashier was very cute and it was fun to see her counting the coins. She probably understood what we were saying because she laughed when my father called her cute, and her English was quite good as well.

Bought burgers from McDonald's to eat before the flight. After eating, we had to queue for boarding. At this point, we wanted to drink something and the nearby vending machine was selling water at 120 yen. We only had 113 yen in total so it was a no-go.

Boarded the plane. Back to the hellhole.

Was going through my old pics for fun and saw this... lol... those days when i had nth better to do and kept thrashing chess titans lvl 1... this pic is damn funny cos dada could never figure out how i did it...

Anyway sem 2.2 finally ended a few weeks ago. it was a major fuck up... gpa gonna drop thanks to procoi, msa, psycho, and esp orgcom... speaking of orgcom... wtf i still feel damn pissed now la... bloody teacher only concerned with saving her own fat ass... now what? so many subjects can threaten my gpa, and the results r coming on the 12 march if im not wrong... argh. i feel like i dont have the mood to do the attachment next sem. my migraines are paranoia r getting worse and worse, and i barely managed to struggle through these 2 years. wonder how bad it will be in a few years or even while on attachment?

Also, this holidays seems so boring. even though its nice to stay at home and slack all the way, i have very few things i actually want to do... and ive done most of it in the first few days of the holidays. read finish kane and abel, finished the 3 god of war games, watching more dramas and animes... and ive given up on mangas except bleach and liar game as im losing patience for it. but... right now theres this ongoing drama... Majisuka Gakuen... though its quite lame its somehow my favourite drama and i even watch the episodes without subs on megavideo since i cant wait for it -.- and the girls are nice... this drama really sparked my interest in akb48. think i have rewatched the current episodes at least 3 times and im still not bored of it.

Oh ive been trying to gain weight recently but its kinda slow. im eating like double of what i used to and im going to the gym regularly... but over the past month i only managed to gain 1 kg -.- so now im 51 kg... -.-

I wasted the past 2 days watching this drama called a million stars falling from the sky... i thought it was good cos of all the ratings and reviews... but it was crap... say what the ending very shocking... wtf... from the first episode already can predict the ending... i endured 10+ hours of a not-very-pretty actress for nothing... At least i learnt some lines from there...

"To me, there is no god. No one, nothing, was given to me. If not for someone wrapping a blanket around this frozen body, there would have been no one to embrace this lonely heart. That was the start of my life. That's why I myself had to become a god. Whatever I wanted, I would have to get it myself. I won't rely on anyone. I don't need things like rewards, and I don't need things like love. With my own strength, I will obtain the results I want, playing for stakes of life and death on this grand stage called the world."

Nowadays i keep getting the feeling there is something wrong with me... i keep getting headaches and on/off numbness in my left arm... my jaw is twitching a lot more than before... my neck hurts sometimes... i became very short-tempered... and i seem to be having a lot more trouble thinking... maybe theres something wrong with my brain...
Ok whatever. About 4 weeks of nonsense left to go...
Got to go do msa report... sian.

Stupid term starting tmr. and still left with so many unfinished projects.
This term break was supposed to be filled with work, but i ended up slacking a hell lot more than i should have. and i wasted it on pretty pointless things like rewatching dramas that i have already watched.
This season i was watching shokojo seira... mainly for the girl... but it was quite good. and it just ended :/ damn sian. hope theres a new shida mirai drama next season... was trying to watch 14 sai no haha but cant find proper episodes... all of the videos have unsynchronised audio/video...
I also watched tantei gakuen q and the queens classroom just for the actress... and just rewatched maou last night. sian.
For anime, ive been watching less nowadays as i somehow seem to like dramas now. now i dont have that determination to finish watching a show to the end if i get bored of it. i dropped many series halfway this time... only finished the sacred blacksmith, seitokai no ichizon, darker than black, umineko... and a few others. and all the endings were somewhat disappointing...
Then theres all the projects that i havent touched... most importantly is psychology... but wtf... my group is practically next to useless... and so is the teacher. im like doing everything myself. whatever... then theres procoi, msa, modsim... and others... haix. seriously wondering if a can get another perfect sem... let alone full Zs...
Stuff to look forward to so far: bloody monday 2, dance in the vampire bund, hidden god, omamori himari, SIP... and watching 14 sai no haha and taiyo no uta when i have time...

Today, i watched the jdrama "1 litre of tears". it was a great show, and made me realise that any random jdrama i pick from that long list beats singapore drama hands down. it was quite sad and touching... to be the first show to actually make me feel like crying. somehow, watching the cute girl suffer like that, and yet not give up to the very end... makes me see life differently, i guess?

First post of sem 2.2!
I randomly felt like blogging even though i have nth to blog about... life is as boring as usual... school sucks... go home also nothing fun to do...
This sem is quite heavy content-wise... a lot of difficult subjects. and until now im still in the holiday mood. havent get fully used to the school mood even though its nearly the term test time -.-
One very stupid thing about this sem: MY CDS GROUP SUCKS! really cmi that kind. sms them, email them, msn them, either no reply or must wait a few days at least. ask them stay back after class they stay 5 mins and then hurry to rush off liao. fucked up la. this cds die liao. 35% group project somemore. kns. should have fucking taken the certificate program for psychology... at least i know that whatever group i kenna, its in the top 10% of their course so should at least have some standard... then the teacher like hinting im a bad leader like that. i mean thats very unfair la. u give me a group of shit and ask me to lead, what can i do? its like playing chess with 3 pawns scattered all over the board and 1 powerful queen... the queen cant do much cos it has to waste time to cover the pawns uselessness. seriously wonder if i can get full Z for this sem...
Some random stuff about sch...
Mp/sip grouping has been decided already.. not bad... feels a bit like a harem lol, but nah. the group seems quite strong but i dunno if can work well together... and i think we sorta chose the wrong field -.- picked systems engineering without really knowing what it is.
Before Mp/sip, we have to do some lousy course called up ur ass service. stupid la waste time one. the deadline for registration was 15/11. i wrote my name on the notice board after the deadline. but they still email me that i was accepted and ask me to go pay 20 bucks. so i went there today. my name not on the list -.- dunno wth la. ask me pay then my name not there. at most take in the 2 months hols lor...
And now our class activity seems to have become bridge -.- like, before class, during free period, after school, and even those short 10 min breaks, we will be playing bridge >.> hm. but its quite fun so wad the heck.
Outside of school...
My desktop broke down... graphic card crashed... damn sian. cant play mmos and cant print anything.
Anime for this season is not bad. i expected to watch a lot but it seems i really have no time, plus its hard to find the episodes cos of the problems with veoh player. think the best is seitokai no ichizon for its jokes, but kiss x sis 3 was not bad as well...
Only new drama worth watching is liar game s2... one of the few drama worth watching in the world anyway. most dramas, especially singaporean ones... just plain suck. no creativity. its always themed around family or love. another thing, every kind of drama i watch, i will surely see one character that pisses me off until i cannot watch the drama. thats why i only bother to watch dramas that show creativity... like liar game, kurosagi, maou...
Very sian liao. gonna do psycho project...
Happy birthday jingyi.

"Saving one person means being unable to save another. Even superheroes can only save those whom they decide to save. Suppose there were a robber who took some hostages with the intent to kill them. Most of the time, at least one hostage would be killed. And even if some miracle allowed for all the hostages to be saved, there would still be one person who isn't saved - the robber whose hostages were rescued. The only people a superhero can save are those he decides to save. That is why... even god cannot save everyone."
